A site tells me I need to enable cookies, but I already have cookies enabled. What gives?

Some web sites are not able to correctly check whether or not iCab has cookies enabled. Follow these steps in order to make certain that the web site at hand actually works with iCab:

  1. Make sure that "don't accept if from a different server than main document" is off, "always accept if cookie is only valid until end of session" is on and "always reject illegal cookies" is off.
  2. Make sure that the Filter Manager is not active (settings in there for specific locations may override the general preferences) by deselecting "Filter Manager active" in the "View" menu.
  3. Open the JavaScript preferences and make sure that JavaScript is active (some sites use that to create cookies), that all JS versions are being executed and that the JS filters are set to allow scripts to do everything (especially creating and asking for cookies).

There might still be issues with a few sites even after you've done all this, but most sites should work properly now.

In the next step, you should configure iCab the way you like it (for instance, it might be a good idea to reject illegal cookies or re-enable the Filter Manager). Don't apply these configurations all at once, but do them step-by-step instead and take the time to verify that the problematic web site still works flawlessly after each step. When you find out the culprit of your earlier problem (i. e. when the problem re-occurs), you might want to create a new Filter Manager rule for it.
